This simple site is part of my ICT171 assignment at Murdoch University.
Here you can browse a selection of digital artworks that showcase different styles, from abstract designs to realistic sketches.
Each piece illustrates my journey in exploring digital media and graphic tools.
Using Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), this cloud project aims to develop a website for a digital art gallery housed on an Amazon EC2 instance. The website will function as an online gallery for digital artworks that are presented in an orderly, aesthetically pleasing manner. Sample artwork, artist names, and descriptions will all be included in the gallery. It might possibly be extended in the future to encompass areas such as concept art, animations, 3D models, and illustrations.
This first iteration of the website is hosted on an Ubuntu server using Apache2 and is constructed with simple HTML and CSS. Images, succinct descriptions of each piece of art, and artist attribution are all included in the text. In order to fulfil academic requirements, a student number is shown on the homepage.
Art students, digital media enthusiasts, and anybody else interested in visual storytelling through digital design are among the gallery's target audience. The project showcases abilities in web server management through the command line, cloud infrastructure deployment and configuration, and live hosting of web content.
This project demonstrates how to build, operate, and maintain a cloud-based server, which satisfies the learning objectives of ICT171. Additionally, it enhances technical abilities such as working in a virtualised Linux environment, controlling file permissions, and connecting to a server via SSH. To make the website more dynamic and user-driven in the future, elements like interactive galleries, artist submissions, or animation support might be introduced. All things considered, this project blends creativity and knowledge of cloud technology to provide a practical and eye-catching website.
I have chosen the MIT License for this project because it allows others to freely use, copy, and change the website, while still giving credit to the original creator. This makes it easy for students and developers to learn from the project or build their own version. The license is short, easy to understand, and very common in open-source projects. It also protects me from legal issues if someone uses the site in a way I didn’t expect. A license notice has been included on the website to show users what they are allowed to do with the code and content.
